Iroda Butane Torch Kit
I’m never really sure how to start these posts. I’m particular when it comes to tools, so when I find something I like, I share it with you guys here. This time, it’s a butane torch. I already own the Snap On Torch 400, and it’s okay. My only real gripe with it is that it can be finnicky when trying to adjust the flame. It pretty much just lives on full blast 24/7. Iroda is a private label manufacturer for a very well known tool truck; they manufacture their Butane Soldering Iron Kit. While going through their catalog, I found this gem; a big brother for the Snap On Torch 400.
The torch kit comes in a nice blow molded case. Pin style hinges were a nice welcome.
If you’re the type of person who ditches the case to save space, you can pull out the tray to save some room and store it in a drawer.
The three tips you get, from left to right, are: Precision Torch Tip, Swirl Flame Tip, and a Heat Blower Tip. The precision tip gives you a very nice, stable, precision flame, the swirl tip gives you a much wider flame, and the heat blower tip is like a mini heat gun.
Here is the Iroda next to the Snap On Torch 400. The Iroda doesn’t have the fancy over molding like the Snap On, but I think it outperforms the Torch 400 at being a torch in every other way. Straight to the point: function over form.
For me, this was the main reason I wanted this tool. The kick stand coupled with the heat gun nozzle makes it a great tool for working on harness assemblies while on a bench. I will be hunting for a heat gun attachment so I can heat all sides of a piece of shrink tube.
